Go Go Gadget Arms

The latest in Rebekah's destructive behaviors (adding to pulling out all the bins in her room, removing her diaper, etc.):

We were checking out at Wal-mart today, and the checker was only filling my reusable bags half full. So, I was grabbing things and putting them on the tops of the bags. I placed the eggs on top of a bag and she offered to wrap them in plastic for me. "No, that's ok, they'll be fine on top of this bag"....unless of course the bag is placed within the reach of my little girl's go-go-gadget arms. All of a sudden I hear SPLAT! All 12 of the eggs were dumped through the basket straight onto the floor. Luckily, the bags were on the other side of the cart, so no eggs in the bags! (Good aim Rebekah!)

I'm adding that $1.62 to her tab.

In an effort to share these milestones in a more timely manner, here is a video of Rebekah's latest mobile achievements. As you can tell, she is quite proud!

11 Month Update (3 weeks late)

We have had a busy 3 weeks since Rebekah hit her 11 month mark. We had some good friends in town when she reached this milestone, then we went on a trip to Minnesota for a week. We are finally catching back up on our lives this weekend! Hope this post is worth the wait.

Our little girl is getting so big, so fast. She's always on the go and exploring everything.

Recently, she discovered the bins in her room.

She perfected dropping the ball in this elephant toy we got her for Christmas. Just all of a sudden knew how to do it! (click image to see video)

(And here she is showing dad...)

Even as of July 23rd, she was trying to walk, and we were trying desperately to capture those first steps. Adam tried to enlist the help of the moose here, but later we were only able to capture 2 steps and a fall (as of today, August 15, this girl can move! still a little wobbly, but getting better each day).

We also started moving to whole milk for her daytime feedings, the ones she gets when she goes to daycare. No more pumping at work - yay!! She loved the milk at first sip!

And she graduated to a big girl car seat. Can't believe it.

And of course, you can view the latest in the bee photos here.

Too Many Changes!

There have been too many changes I the last week. I’m not sure I can handle all of this at once.

  • We moved Rebekah to her big girl car seat. She still technically fits in the infant bucket, but she just seemed so uncomfortable on our 7-hours-each-way roadtrip to Lubbock. It was time to give her more space.
  • This girl is really trying to walk. She’s managed to take up to 3-4 stumbles a few times, but usually it is till one-two-plop back on the bottom. Just in the last couple of days I’ve seen her stand up from sitting without pulling up on anything. She’s going to be off in no time.
  • Today was the last day for me to take my pump to work. We’ve started transitioning R to cow’s milk for the 1-2 bottles she takes at day care. I’ve been SO excited about this for so long, but today I’m a little sad about it. I’m still going to continue to breastfeed for the rest of the feedings for a little while, but this will really take some stress off making sure I always have enough for daycare.

One funny to leave you with. We bought this classic toy phone from Once Upon a Child this weekend for $3.50. We were going to wait until R’s birthday to give it to her, but decided to give it to her last night. She has yet to stop carrying it around with her. And anytime we would say “hello,” she would put the string up to her ear as if it was the receiver, get the cutest look on her face and say “wah wah.”

10 Months

Wow - we are so quickly approaching Rebekah's 11 month bday, so I am finally getting around to a 10 month update. I'm sad, though, because I don't really remember the day-to-day milestones from May 23rd to June 23rd - that seems like so long ago! I'll do my best to recap with photos. Hopefully my new mini-posts will help. Plus, I think I'm going to set out a notebook and try to write something down each day or so. Maybe that will help! Any other suggestions on keeping up with this quickly growing girl??

We had a fun family outing to the rangers game. It was HOT, but we had good seats that were shaded by about half way through the game. Rebekah was pretty good. Only required a bit of walking around. I'm hoping we can go again in the fall!

We spent some time in the pool - Rebakah really enjoys it and she's a great swimmer because she learned so much at swimming lessons this spring. :)

We gave Rebekah her "1st haircut." Not really a full haircut, just enough to get rid of the tail in the back. I was so nervous about doing it - I wasn't sure I would like her hair without a bit of length to it. Looking back, I can't believe I didn't do it sooner!

Rebekah learned how to get into the cabinets... (not sure why so blurry...bummer).

And her first kids meal! Actually, the fries weren't hers, but she loved the grilled cheese and ate almost all of it! (Momma had to steal a few bites - yum!)

And of course, you can see bee photos here.

All the fun pictures are in the album below:

My Daily Smile

Since I'm so slow about getting photos up, I thought I would add something to this little blog.

Rebekah does something everyday that makes me smile, cracks me up, or amazes me (usually all 3!). I'm going to try to more regularly document these moments by sharing them here!

Today, Rebekah and I were sitting on my bed and she grabbed my belt that was laying on the bed. She starts playing with it and I said, "That's my belt." She looks right at me and says "bah?" I said, "my belt" and she says "bleh?" Her little brain is just trying so hard to figure out these words we are saying to her! I can't believe it!

Then she clocked me on the head with the belt buckle and fun with belt time was over. :)

Father's Day Celebrations

We had a great time celebrating the first Father's Day with Rebekah in our life! I think Adam really enjoyed it. :) As has been the norm lately, we had 3 celebrations, one with my family, one with Adam's, and one with just us.

We spent Saturday with my family. The cousins played and played! Rebekah learned how to play piano

and found Grandma's tupperware cabinet. (click image to see video)

We opened gifts with Grandad - the cousins like to help.

Then we had a little celebration with our little family. Adam got gifts from Rebekah..

(thanks to I Can Teach My Child for the gift idea!)

and from me - so spoiled!

(notice the Mavericks theme?!)

Then on Sunday we went to the Grapevine Botanical Gardens. We had a nice picnic lunch then walked around to see the flowers and the fish.

Of course, presents were opened and Rebekah thought she needed to be involved.

It was a wonderful, full, fun celebration weekend!! Adam is an absolutely fantastic father and Rebekah and I are both so blessed!!!

We had LOTS of great pictures from Father's Day weekend. Check them all out by clicking on the album below...
